Here's an interview with Alec about his work.
Here's a report on the evening from a Totally Kate contributor. Many thanks for the report!

We went to see Alec Egan’s art show at Box Eight Gallery in Los Angeles.  It seemed a strange place for an art gallery.  The surrounding buildings were what looked to be warehouses and industrial buildings.  As we were going into the gallery, there was a media crew from Entertainment Tonight interviewing Alec.  We crossed into the building and were greeted by Kate.  She introduced us to a long time family friend who was serving Prosecco and sparkling water.  There were cheese and crackers, and fruit for those who came hungry.  After signing the guestbook, we wandered around and looked at the artwork.  The building itself was very large.  That was a good thing, because the pieces of artwork were also large and needed the space to appreciate them.  The show was dedicated to Alec’s grandfather, Robert Egan, who had just passed away.  There were 6 different portraits titled Tranny 1-6.  These were various female nudes in different poses, with different colored backgrounds.  The most popular seemed to be the one on a black background which seemed to be hiding behind her hand.  This one in fact sold while we were there.  There was one very large painting titled “The head of it all”  which was basically a very large head with an even larger mouth, and there was writing in the eyeballs that you couldn’t quite make out.  Imbedded in this painting was a camera taking video, which was used later to show on a screen outside.  There were two paintings, called “Judge in the City”, and “Rural Judge”.  These had a figure in the foreground representing the judge and several what one would assume were supplicants in the background.  It seemed very appropriate that the rural judge had a can of Budweiser in front of him.  There were two more paintings, one called “Family Portrait” and the other I can’t remember.  The family portrait was of 4 people with various expressions on their face.

We mingled around the group and watched the various people come and go.  We saw Kathleen Turner, Daniel Davis, and Robert Picardo there.  Most people came in and greeted Kate and Alec then wandered around admiring the art.

There was a side door onto a patio area, that led to the local artist's home and workshop.  This was sort of a walled in courtyard and very pleasant.  There were more refreshments and music out in the courtyard, and many of the younger guests tended to congregate there.  There was also a very friendly dog named Otis that liked to follow everyone around in search of the fallen morsels.  Kate was not wild about Otis.

It was a pleasant evening and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves including Connie who got a few photos of the event, and a bouquet of flowers from Kate for her birthday.  Kate seemed genuinely pleased to see some of her fans come out in support of Alec’s show.
