Kate was the honorary chairperson for the Dubuque Alzheimer's Memory Walk in Dubuque, Iowa (Greater Iowa Chapter) on Sept. 22nd, 2007.

I’ve been involved since my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In my
experience with tragedy or grief, you forget the exact date your heart
gets broken – and this was profound heartbreak for me. - read
