Evoking the cultural essence of two ancient civilizations, Director Tina Landau promises to electrify Hartford Stage with Antony & Cleopatra—the enduring story of two timeless characters whose political decisions, longings for power, and passions are played out on our stage. The grand roles of Antony and Cleopatra—great politicians, great leaders, great lovers—mega celebrities of the ancient world, are brought to life by award winning actors Kate Mulgrew and John Douglas Thompson.

While Ms. Mulgrew’s portrayal of Cleopatra, set in a 21st century spectacle of the ancient world, is sure to captivate audiences, she cannot do it alone.
